I've had BT HH 5 for couple of years, recently I decided to swap it with Draytek 2860 n.
With BT HH 5 - I was getting 45-48Mbps Download and around 8-10 Upload.
With Draytek I initally getting event up to 54Mbsp with 9-10 Upload - however after 24hrs the speed drops to 38mbs and less.
I've made my first attempt with draytek a month ago but had the same problem.
Draytek has released a new FW - but the issue is exactly the same as with the previous one.
I've changed MTU between 1472-1500 but it didnt make any difference
H/W is off.
I've attached VDSL status .
Why the line drops with 3rd party router? Is there any solution
Solved! Go to Solution.
You are currently getting the full 55Mbps Down and /10 Mbps Up of your package according to those stats.
i've just checked via cable and the speed is much faster around 53mbps.
It appears that WIFI speed drops every so often to around 30 - with only handful of devices connected
If it is your wireless that is dropping and your Ethernet is OK it has to be a router problem and not a connection problem.
Try changing the wireless channel to a less congested one. You can get a wifi signal app for smartphones or you could just try trial and error or use channel 13. It is not selected by routers so is usually the least congested and more often than not you will be the only user on it.
