Ok so i have had BT home hub 3 with openreach infinity and the phone has been plugged in downstairs for a few years now, and the internet upstairs every time the phone rings i lose connection, so i did no really care or really notice it at the time, but now its really annoying.
so apprently my SSFP socket (i believe its called that) upstairs has the two ports for internet and phone so i know thats the microfilter, i plugged my phone and the internet in the socket, everything works but i still get the problem where my internet drops and when the phone rings im really confused.
maybe it is the internal wiring but would the bt engineer not connect it to split it off or somthing.
(This is my socket)

It sounds like you have a noise problem with your line.
If your modem is unlocked and you can access it, please copy and paste the line stats here but if not then all I can advise is to report a telephony fault.
sounds like a high resistance fault and you nned to report a phone fault to 151 http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/connectionprobs.htm
I'm not sure how a high resistance fault is not a noise problem?
did you read the link I posted about high resistence fault? it is a joint problem on your line
to report a noise problem you would hear it crackle/hiss/static but HR fault is a bad joint(s) causing the router to drop when phone rings
