BT infinity max data rate/ data rate lower than estimated

Go to solution
Hi all, I haven’t needed the forums help for a couple of yrs but am back with a question. I upgraded to Infinity in dec with estimated speeds of 41-55, min guaranteed 37. Am currently connected at around 39 so above the g’teed but under the estimate. My connection is solid with the only disconnects done 8 days or so ago by be rebooting router. Should I be expecting a better speed than I am getting? I connect through a filtered faceplate at the master socket Router stats below:

Firmware version: SG4B1000B522
Firmware updated: 12-Jan-2018
Board version: 1.0
Gui version: 1.64.0
DSL uptime: 8 Days, 17 Hours 34 Minutes 47 Seconds
Data rate: 10.00 Mbps / 39.68 Mbps
Maximum data rate: 15426 / 40788
Noise margin: 9.3 dB / 6.1 dB
Line attenuation:19.5 dB
Thanks

Tom

It specifies a connection speed between 41 and 59Mbs, and you are getting 39.68, so its a bit on the low side.

Do you only have a single master socket, with no other extension wiring or sockets?

Re: BT infinity max data rate/ data rate lower than estimated

Ok I have removed the faceplate and connected directly to the master socket

DSL uptime: 0 Days, 0 Hours 5 Minutes 24 Seconds
Data rate: 10.00 Mbps / 39.43 Mbps
Maximum data rate: 15396 / 40533
Noise margin: 9.2 dB / 6.3 dB
Line attenuation: 19.6 dB

Doesn’t look to have made a difference

Are all the extensions now dead, with no dial tone on them?

All extension wiring should be connected to the bottom section like this

Extension wiring connection point

This would mean that they are disconnected when you removed the bottom section.

If that is not the case, then you have an internal wiring error.
