Yes definitely. The faceplate was fitted by BT a few yrs ago now

Well, if that is the speed you are getting with the faceplate removed, then I cannot see anything else you can do to improve the connection speed.

Sometimes aluminium cable was used by BT years ago, when copper was too expensive. This can reduce the speed a bit.

You are still above the minimum speed you were told, and have eliminated any issues at your end, so I cannot really see any scope for improvement.

At least it was worth checking.

Thanks for you time Keith, are BT likely to investigate anything they can do at their side or is the connnection speed just is what it is?

Thanks

As its within the range you were told, nothing will happen. If you leave things alone now, you may eventually see a slight improvement.
