Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

A dull hum is normal if using a cordless phone. Can you try using a corded phone and see if there's any noise then?

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

All tests have been performed with a corded phone, I've just tested again at the test socket with 2 different corded phones and there's still a hum, confirmed by another party.

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

Then you have a line fault not a broadband one. report it on 151.

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

Ok, then it's likely that you have an earth leakage fault, so as @pippincp said, you need to report a telephony fault to 151.

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

Ok, but that's what I already did, call 151 and report a landline fault and the engineer who came out this morning couldn't find anything wrong.

I could ring again, but won't they just say the same thing again?

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

Hi @0123456789,

I've picked this up for you. I've sent a request to our suppliers to see if they can improve your connection speed. They may not be able to do it until Monday. I'll check up on it for you then.

Thanks

DanielS

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

Hi @0123456789,

I've been checking to see if there has been any change yet but there isn't. I've sent another request to my suppliers to see if they can improve it over the next couple of days.

Thanks

DanielS

Re: Banded Profile and Possible Congestion.

Hi there @DanielS

thanks for all the assistance, my internet mysteriously reconnected at 4pm yesterday afternoon. After which it synced at 29.37 Mbps instead of the usual 30.0.

Strangely, the max sync is the same at roughly 35, but the SNR for the downstream has dropped from 8+ to 6, also my pings have increased by about 8ms across the board, so I'm guessing interleaving has been applied?

Interestingly if I check the WAN log it says it connected at 33539Kbps with 0 db SNR which is what it was saying every time it connected before.

When you say a speed increase through one of your supplies what exactly does that involve, is it just a DLM reset?

An extra piece of possibly relevant information is that this property has two extra phone lines that haven't been used in years, and from reading other threads I've seen this as being mentioned as a possible source of interference?

Thanks again.
