Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

Unfortunately, things were taken out of my hands. today Needed to reboot router to fix an issue.

I managed nearly 16 day without needing to restart the router.  WAN PPP was up for nearly 12 days - see stats at the bottom of screen shot

Can anybody provide any insight?

Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

OK, so frustration got the better of me.

I've unlocked the HG612 3B, stuck it in and installed DSLStat.

Kinda stock setup with the HG connecting the VDSL and the Draytek bring up the PPP over its Ethernet WAN.

As expected the line is still banded. (12/49)

There were a small number of ES initially both up and down.  The DSL retained shortly after midnight and since then the HG reports zero ES and zero CRC with a small number of FEC.

SNR seem higher but attainable still look OK at 15.8Mbits up and 58.7Mbits.

The Linux box running DSLStats is isolated on Port 2 at the moment so I'll post stats once I get it on the LAN or something...

Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

Are the figures from the DSL Checker dynamic?  Do they tend to change much?

Dec to Feb - Max moves ~68 to ~74Dec to Feb - Max moves ~68 to ~74

Dynamic and will change over time, the change does not happen daily/weekly.

Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

Just under two day on HG612 and still no CRC or ES...

As an aside, what should I be looking at to see if G.INP is active on the line?  Can I gain any insight from the counters (LEFTRS, minEFTR, errFreeBits)?

--------------------------------------------

Since Link time = 1 days 21 hours 37 min 47 sec
FEC: 3858 2933
CRC: 0 0
ES: 0 0
SES: 0 0
UAS: 0 0
LOS: 0 0
LOF: 0 0
LOM: 0 0

Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

HLog - From what I read this looks OK, nice smooth drop up through the freq?

Hlog.png

QLN -This I see some spikes (esp higher freq) which I gather would be some noise / cross-talk?

But what is that section from bin 260'ish though 520'sh?

The experts at analysing DSL stats graphs are over on the Kitz forum, you will probably get a better response there.

Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

Thanks.  I've been lurking there for a while...

Interestingly, Draytek have suggested using non-BT approved firmware with non-vectoring modem codes.

I wanna see the line recover on the HG612 before I give it a go tho.

Re: Banding 'stuck' or just impatient me?

2862 Series Firmware 3.9.2 (77B506 Modem Code). "Vigor2862_v3.9.2_MDM2_en.zip"  from the co.uk. website.  Apparently it contains non-vectoring modem codes - 7B506_775401 and 778C06_773F01

I've installed that version of the firmware instead of the BT approved version.  But I'm still running PPP over the Ethernet WAN link on the Vigor and letting the HG612 handle the VDSL connection. I'm  not going to test the modem codes over the Vigor DSL until the banding is removed from my line and the SNRM is reduce. I plan to stay with the HG612 until then because it is stable and the improved ability to monitor the VDSL connection and line state...
