So a while back I posted about having some speed issues, and I thought my problem was random. However recently I have noticed that there is in fact a pattern. When it gets to around 2PM, my speed continually decreases, reaching 4-5mb download at around 6PM, sometimes going even lower than that. This continues till just around 3AM, then I get my normal 45mb download all through the wee hours of the morning until around 2PM when it starts again.
Here are some speed tests I did a few days ago, a full 'cycle', if you will.
This happens like clockwork, it's consistent and has been going on for about a month now. At first I was willing to believe the problem was on my end, but after I noticed there was a 'pattern' I'm not so sure anymore.
when was last time you renewed your contract? prior to 02/13? are you downloading anything classified p2p? if so try glasnost test http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php
It happens even when I'm not downloading anything. Watching videos on youtube and playing online games can become unbearable if it does decide to dip even further below 4MB.
And I don't know when I last renewed my contract I'm afraid.
Still happening. Been happening for a month now. How do I go about fixing this without getting the usual try turning it on and off again shtick from BT support. Surely there's no way the problem can be on my end if my service is relatively normal in the AM's.

I didn't run the glasnot test as I don't have, and do not want, Java installed on my computer. Anyway as I said, it happens when I'm not downloading anything at all, it's happening as I type this post with nothing else running in the background, I'm getting around 10mb download when I should be getting 45-50. I would bet everything I own when it gets to around 3AM I'll be back to my usual speed.
No problems have been reported at my exchange.
Any idea how I can go about getting this sorted without having to phone up and be told to turn it on and off again for the 20th time?
I'm paying for 50mb and getting barely 10% of that during the times I'll actually be using my internet.
It sounds more like it could be congestion at your exchange during peak times rather than you being throttled. If you were being throttled I would have expected it to have been constant since you started with BT however to be sure that you are not being throttled you need to contact BT and ask them to ensure that you are on a Totally Unlimited account and not just an Unlimited account.
What exchange are you on?
I'm on the Scoutstoun Exchange. There was a minor broadband issue listed at that exchange on one of the sites you provided, but it was only added and resolved a day or 2 ago, I tried restarting after reading this but no change, and as I have previously said, this has been going on for like 3 weeks now.
I've had great service from BT for the last...I don't know how many years I've been with them, the only real problems being outages that were beyond their control. But I'm seriously considering changing ISP, getting so tired of trying to get this resolved and being taken through the script time and time again.
And yeah, congestion seems more likely since on weekends it starts sooner, like from 12pm this afternoon.
Got the same problem and I'm also connected the Scotstoun Exchange.
They said it would be fixed by 1 o'clock yesterday but It's not.
