Re: Broadband (Infinity 1) keeps dropping

Go to solution

Hi Stephanie,

Sorry I need to contact you again, I have tried sending you a message but it is failing to send saying invalid HTML, then I've reached my maximum number of sent message, I will try and fix! But reason for message is that it appears our broadband speed has been dropping since the fault was closed and we are now back to where we were speed-wise pre-fix.. These are the stats from the router log;

06:15:38, 01 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=45990kbps, Up Rate=9780kbps; SNR Margin Down=0.0dB, Up=0.0dB
00:57:14, 02 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=43999kbps, Up Rate=9673kbps; SNR Margin Down=0.0dB, Up=0.0dB
18:47:23, 07 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=43999kbps, Up Rate=9810kbps; SNR Margin Down=0.0dB, Up=0.0dB
02:41:17, 10 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=39998kbps, Up Rate=9668kbps; SNR Margin Down=0.0dB, Up=0.0dB
00:47:25, 12 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=34998kbps, Up Rate=9548kbps; SNR Margin Down=0.0dB, Up=0.0dB
02:29:45, 14 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=32397kbps, Up Rate=9533kbps; SNR Margin Down=0.0dB, Up=0.0dB
18:38:38, 19 Apr.DSL Link Up: Down Rate=32397kbps, Up Rate=9638kbps; SNR Margin Down=11.1dB, Up=6.3dB

So as you can see we have again not been getting our minimum guaranteed speed since 14th April, and was right on the margin on 12th April. The log does say that we should be able to receive 46Mbps, but for some reason we are no longer getting this, perhaps DLM is reducing it due to increased noise on the line, as the noise margin has goen up from 6.0 to 11.0 which is essentially where it was before it was fixed.

Data rate:9.638 Mbps / 32.397 Mbps
Maximum data rate:9.638 / 46.037 Mbps
Noise Margin:6.2 / 11.0
Line attenuation:30.4 / 21.3
Signal attenuation:30.5 / 20.6

Frustrating!

Regards
Ross

Hi @Burnside5  and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry the problem looks to have returned. @StephanieG  is out of the office for a few days but I'll make sure she's aware of your post. In the meantime keep everything connected and monitor the connection over the next few days.

Cheers

David

Re: Broadband (Infinity 1) keeps dropping

Go to solution

Hi @Burnside5 thanks for getting back to me today.

As an update for the thread, the dip in speed appears to have been a temporary blip. A noise event of some sort must've caused temporary instability, which in turn caused the speed to drop. By the time I picked up this case, a couple of days after you posted, the speed had recovered and the overall connection has been performing within expected parameters for the last week.

Please post back if you have any more questions or problems with your service, we'll be happy to help 🙂
