Re: Broadband Ininity - change in service?

Go to solution

Thanks for your suggestion @licquorice - even though it made me really nervous, I went ahead, factory reset the Billion and connected it up.  I don't want to tempt fate, but the connection is already looking a little better (see screenshot).  I guess I should wait a few days for it to settle now - but at least now if it goes downhill again I can get these stats I need (though I may need some help getting them).  Will be interesting to see if it goes down later in the day as it does in the week.  I know others are reading this thread, so hoping that at the least all my moaning will have helped someone equallly un-techy as well!  I have to say I'm impressed with the billion - the userguide is easy to follow as long as you know what page you should be on lol, and they have really helpful forums for the ignorant like myself Smiley Tongue

I will keep you posted

Re: Broadband Ininity - change in service?

Connection still dropping, and it’s still awful 🙁 it all went really bad again around 3pm ironically once again when the World Cup came on TV! I blame the football for everything.

At this point will stats from my router be of any use or should I just call out an engineer?  I’ve logged into the router but not sure what I’m looking for. Would any of the mods be able to get this investigated for me as a first step?

Re: Broadband Ininity - change in service?

I've got some line stats from my router - I hope this means something to someone - my connection dropped first thing this morning, so its only from today but maybe it will tell you guys something? It's all a nonsense to me lol. I've looked carefully to see if there's any info there that will identify me, but I can't see anything Capture8.JPG

Yep, you should be getting about 28M but you are only getting 18M. Looks like your line has been banded by DLM due to instability.

Re: Broadband Ininity - change in service?

Thanks @licquorice - so how do I get that sorted?  I'm in the MOD queue at the moment, so hopefully they can sort it out.  Previously we averaged between 20-24 in all the time we've had the connection (since 2013).  So, clearly something somewhere has changed. Is this DLM thing an automatic thing or does someone manually apply it?

By the way, if I upgraded to Broadband plus would I get sent different kit? if so what?  I've still got the crappy hh3 we were given day 1 and its never been upgraded - not that I'm using it anyway but its the principle of the thing 😛  Perhaps an upgrade is the way to go to get my line reset... bit drastic though!

Re: Broadband Ininity - change in service?

You need an engineer visit to sort out the cause of your line instability, the mods will arrange that when they contact you. DLM is an automatic system that attempts to stabilise your line, but if the line is still faulty, requires an engineer to fix first. Lines do go faulty, they don't last forever fault free.

Re: Broadband Ininity - change in service?

Hi @cjmole,

Thank you for sending in your details. I gave your mobile number a quick call, I'm sorry I didn't get speaking to you.

I've ran a few tests on your line and its picking up a fault on the network. I've sent this off for investigation. I should have an update for you in the next 24 hours.

Thanks

PaddyB
