Re: Broadband drop outs

OK, don't think I've got a filter, will have a look later.

So what am I looking for a drop in the noise on the line (slight hiss).

The dsl will not be conncted if I take the faceplate off ?

Yes it will if connected to the filter.

If there is a hiss on the line it needs reporting as a line fault no mention of broadband.

Re: Broadband drop outs

You need to leave it connected in the test socket for as long as it takes, to see if you still get the dropout problem.

While its connected like that, do a check to make sure that all extension sockets, if you have any, have no dial tone on them, as they should be routed via that faceplate and connected to the back of the bottom section, as shown here

Extension wiring connection point

If any extension sockets do have dial tone on them, then you have a fault with your internal phone wiring.

Re: Broadband drop outs

Leave it like that, and see if you still get the packet errors.
