Broadband dropouts

My BB drops connection persistently.  It then goes through the colour cycle and back to blue. I  have raised faults, went through the wiring and settings , reset etc and it settled down for a short while but the persistent drops resurfaced. According to my account I have complained about speed which is not the issue. An added problem is I live in a 3 story block of flats and the wiring is internal. I have tried the fault thingy twice more but just got frustrated.

I did have a guy phone me at 8 am on a Sunday but I wa in notate to run around unplugging this that and the other.

I know I should be more patient but it has just dropped fir the third time this morning.

Please help restore my sanity,

Rob

Re: Broadband dropouts

do you have a phone and not digital voice?  if so can you check for line noise by dialling 17070 option 2 should be silent.

I assume you don't have FTTP so have you tried connecting direct to the test socket with a filter and see if that helps your broadband?

Re: Broadband dropouts

Hi, I have digital voice so no go with line testing. It is FTTC i am sure. There are 42 flats in 2 combining buildings and I have no access to test sockets and such like. I have a socket in the flat but that is all, no test facility. I have changes the filter and the wiring to the Hub. Tried with phone disconnected and such variations. No change.

This is an retirement  facility and we are all 70 upwards.

Thank for replying,

Rob

Re: Broadband dropouts

  • Hi, yes I do.

This shows as a speed fault which it is not. I have tried explaining this to BT without sucess .

F uther information. We have free WiFi in the communal part of the facility and I checked the speed which aligns with mine at 37 down and 9 up. Checked with the warden who reports no problem with their BB connection. Going to ask around tomorrow.

My flat is o. The top floor so a probably quite a way from the master or whatever connection they have.

My box isn't a box. Just a plate with one socket flush to the wall.

Can't think of any thing else.

Thanks again

Rob

Please delete the vol ref as that is personal information and should not be posted on a public forum
