Broadband drops out consistently, at the same time of the evening - Why ?

Hi, I take Halo FTTC broadband from BT, and am beyond frustration after months and months of the same thing happening, with no apparent logic as to why.

BB drops out at more or less the same time in the evening - typically between 2030 and 2130. It's a daily occurrence. Router cycles round and reboots itself, and then all is good until the following evening.

Would anyone be able to offer a logical explanation why this could be happening. BT faults have been hopeless, no-one seems to be bothered.

I also would appreciate an understanding of why we can't get FTTP here, whilst we're closer to serving exchange (Almondsbury) than other outlying villages, served by the same exchange, who are filling their boots with FTTP service. It's bonkers.

Thank you

It sounds like electrical interference. Check for the street lighting coming on and also anything electrical in your house  such as a heating boiler switches on or off when the broadband drops out.

FTTP does not come from the exchange as such. It is a bespoke network that needs to be build for any given area and it may be that your area is not at this time commercially viable.

Re: Broadband drops out consistently, at the same time of the evening - Why ?

Im not sure how Halo works but if possible, disconnect or turn off any of the 'discs' around the house if you can and only have the hub working. See if it continues to reset between the hours you stated. If it doesnt, the disconnect is caused by the 'discs.' If you have more than 1 disc, re connect ONE to your network and see if the hub resets. If it does, that the source of your problem. If the network stays reliable, connect another disc and see what happens.

If the hub resets with no discs connected, is it plugged into the same mains 240v socket as a tv or something else? If so, can you try another plug socket?

If all else fails, you could try a surge protection extension lead and plug the hub into that. Dont waste your time using the BT webpage chat. Phone the Broadband help line number on your bill and speak to them.

Re: Broadband drops out consistently, at the same time of the evening - Why ?

Thank you. Yes, we have 4 discs, 3 wirelessly connected, with 1 hard wired to the BT hub. Hadn't imagined it could be the discs, so will try. Have tried to call BT about it, but no-one seems bothered, and fall back to the position that BT need to maintain there network, and have the right to take it down, regularly if required. I had wondered if the hub setting was that it needed it to relicence itself at a set time every day. Have never tinkered with hub setting though, but had a thought. Hub is plugged into a 2 way wall socket - Hub and Disc, that's all.

Appreciate the suggestions, will try.
