Re: Broadband speed very different depending on test site?

So there's no 'speed test' to measure speed to my hub like BT quote?

The hub stats tell you that.

Re: Broadband speed very different depending on test site?

Have you tried to use the test socket? Connect your hub to that and see if that makes any difference.

Re: Broadband speed very different depending on test site?

Just to prove the speedtest.net servers are overloaded and will give you different results!

First is Middlesbrough server with 44Mbps, the second is Newcastle server with 59 Mbps and the last is the result from speedof.me test site with 63Mbps. Use the test socket and check the speed on different servers with wireless and wired connection as well. If you still have issues I think a moderator will probably have a look at this for you.

Re: Broadband speed very different depending on test site?

Thanks for your suggestions.
We don't have a 'wired' device at home so any tests I run will be over Wifi! I'll check my hub stats for more info.

Re: Broadband speed very different depending on test site?

This has always been the case, though it seems that the different sites give consistently differing results.

I'm used to what is normal for that site and don't concern myself too much with the discrepancies between them

Re: Broadband speed very different depending on test site?

Hi guys,

Thanks all for posting. There's some usefull comments on this thread. We would always recommend using the wholesale speed tester on a wired connection but you'll also see your connection speed in your hub stats (thanks @licquorice @pippincp for pointing that out). Wireless will alwys show a descrepency in the speed but I take your point @matekaneve . I hope you've got the advice you were looking for @jaypeegolf .

Cheers

David
