Hi Everyone. I'm a deaf guy who doesn't use the phone but does use broadband. I am thinking of updating to broadband fibre and wanted to find out if you need to have a phone line if you have broadband fibre. If not, then I've been wasting a lot of money! So, if anyone has any knowledge/experience of this it would be gratefully received. Cheers.
Yes you need a phone line in order to get broadband if it is FTTC, Fibre to the Cabinet. The phone line brings the broadband signal from the cabinet to your house.
If you can get FTTP Fibre to the Premises you don't necessarily need a phone line to deliver the broadband signal but you will however still need to pay line rental albeit the cost will be included in the package price.
