Bt Infinity congestion causing gaming lag

bt wiring been changed to increase our speeds from 50mbps to 76mbps. Constant lag and unresponsive gaming. Contacted BT and they said there's congestion on my line and when the speed was fully increased to 76, the line wasnt refreshed from their side hence why theres lag apparently. Is this true and will this the line refresh fix this bs problem?

@VishalM

As @imjolly has said, you always need to use an Ethernet connection to the home hub.

Also make sure that nobody else is uploading anything, or streaming video, as that will delay whatever you send to the game server. The download speed has very little bearing on response time.

Errors on your broadband connection will also give problems.
