Bt fibre low speeds is it fault?.

Hello.

My current sync rate today is at 32397 and drop from 34998.  The max rate is fluctuating from low as 25 to high as 46-47 and the snr is going from 4 to high as 12.

Is this indicating a fault or maybe bt slowing speeds due to virus.  Does this need further investigation

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Re: Bt fibre low speeds is it fault?.

is your hub dropping connection? often?  are you resetting the hub to try and improve connection?  or maybe a combination of both?

Re: Bt fibre low speeds is it fault?.

I'm using a tp link 9980.

I've only reset it just once nearly 2 days ago after seeing system up time of 81 days.

That's a copy n paste of router now below

Re: Bt fibre low speeds is it fault?.

I think the uptime on the 9980 is system uptime ( how long router has been powered up) which is not the same as dsl/internet uptime.  everytime your router changes connection speed (not attainable) then the connection has dropped and restarted

Re: Bt fibre low speeds is it fault?.

so even though router showed a system uptime of 81 days there could have been numerous drops in connection which is the possible cause of your drop in connection speed

have you tried quiet line test?
