I'm due to get BT infinity installed soon. My NTE5 telephone master socket, which has a BT Broadband Accelerator (previously known as the I-Plate) fitted, is in a far from ideal location and running a RJ11 modem extension from it would be problematic. However, I have a telephone extension socket within 10 metres of the master socket. Would it be ok to plug the BT Home Hub 5 into the extension socket, with a microfilter?
You can do yes, but be aware, your internal wiring may cause your broadband to not perform as well as it would do in the master socket. The ideal is connected to the master socket with no extensions anywhere else in the house.
