Canford Cliffs Cabinet 9 Query

We have been receiving very low upload and download speeds - worsening recently.  Does anyone know if the Canford Cliffs Cabinet 9 is due an upgrade?  Have struggled to discuss this with the BT Residential team and was recently sold a BT Business broadband line which is being activated in 4 days - purely to at least get better support from their end.  At our wits end with homework and homeschooling 3 children.  Not sure who to turn to.

Re: Canford Cliffs Cabinet 9 Query

Thank you.  Although we do have FTTC - our download speeds are often under 12.5mbps (dropping to 2-4) at times. Upload speeds never reach above 2.44.  Is this acceptable or are we able to push for higher speeds - average guarantees currently circa 18 but drowned by the small print in the contract

@Jwalsh

If you are moving to a BT Business service, there is only going to be limited support from this forum. You could have course have a fault on your line, which will still be there when you move to BT Business. Your speed is limited by your distance from the cabinet.

In order to find out what services and speed range you should be getting, please enter your phone number into this form.

Re: Canford Cliffs Cabinet 9 Query

You should be getting a download connection speed between  18 6 and 31.3Mbs, and the last observed speed was 17.71Mbs on 18/12/19.

You are well below the expected speed, but this could be down to the way you have connected things up or a nosy line.

Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.

Which BT Home hub do you have at the moment?

What does your master phone socket look like?

Can you please provide the connection information from your home hub, which shows the connected line speed.

Have you tried using the test socket, just in case there is a problem with your internal wiring?

If you can provide all of that information, then you should be able to get more help from forum members.

Do you have any other extension sockets or extension wiring?

Can you provide the connection speed information please?

If you are using the BT Smart hub you can get your connection stats by, Opening a new web browser on your connected device and type 192.168.1.254 or bthomehub.home into the address bar. This will open the Hub Manager.  Click Advanced Settings’ and then ‘Technical log’
