Capped 40/10

My contract is due for renewal soon. My line is currently capped 40/10. I had a lot of issues when I started my contract due to interference on the line. BT wasn’t that interested as I was ‘within range’. I gave up posting.  I’ve just been checking my stats again & the achievable speed appears to be stable at 47mb & my download speed is 39,996. Maybe whatever was causing the interference has gone away.

How do I get this cap removed so I can see what the line settles at?

Re: Capped 40/10

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .

enter your phone number and post results  remember to delete number   https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Not sure what CS can do for you apart from restart your hub

Re: Capped 40/10

I didn’t say the problem was resolved 😁 Very poor customer support. They’re not very knowledgable & trying to get a ‘confident’ answer is like getting blood from a stone..

Re: Capped 40/10

Hi - I’m having the DLM reset. Will see if that sorts being ‘stuck’ at 40mb out. Just annoying you get passed from pillar to post & different people give different answers to the same questions. It’s almost like they’re doing you favour rather than providing a service you pay for.

Re: Capped 40/10

if you were speaking with CS then they can't do DLM reset but they can just reset your hub which from what you have posted is what has happened

Re: Capped 40/10

Hi - I’m only going off what CS told me. They’re going to put a request into OR to get the DLM reset. They said it’ll take 2/3 days. Maybe they did reset the hub but at the same time my US ES went from 0 to 1777. Not sure if that was the reason my modem restarted or whether it was caused by the re-start. See what happens, if it happens. The clean speed on the DSL checker has reduced from 54Mb to 47Mb. Before 54Mb it was 52mb. I’m supposed to get between 29Mb - 36Mb so it’s good I’m getting 39.993 but it’ll never have the opportunity to go higher if I’m capped/banded at 40mb. Maybe my line won’t support anything above 40Mb but until this limit is removed, I’ll never know. If it doesn’t, the DLM should sort it.
