Connect to Master socket 5c openreach or external port?

Hi,

I’ve recently moved in to a house and had a master socket 5c installed. The engineer that came in said I was supposed to connect my internet modem to it but box didn’t provide me with a wire that fits into this socket. There was also this external modem below this master socket 5c (see image) which the previous tenants used to connect to get internet and that seems to work...

But I have been wondering which port is the correct port to connect it to? I kinda wanna get rid of the external port if it’s not needed...

Any ideas guys???

Difficult to see clearly from the picture but  it looks as though that is an optical modem(ONT) so you must have FTTP supplying your broadband. The NTE5 will be just for telephony. No idea what the 'engineer' was talking about.

There will be a WAN connection on the ONT that you will use to connect the WAN connection on the hub (red socket) with an ethernet cable.

If the hub you have does not have a red WAN socket you need to ring in and have it replaced.
