Connection delays and Bot frustrations

Over last couple of months been experiencing all sorts of connection difficulties which seem to hinge around Bt hub and modem. My personal Mac is connected via an ethernet switch and is totally unaffected so I believe the fault must lie with BTs equipment. (A while back one of BTs service guys did some work on the pole cables and called in to check that the connection was working (it was) but he was surprised to see both an Openreach modem and a BT Hub connected. He said I shouldn't need both but said "I suppose it'll be ok".) That has bothered me ever since and I have queried it with BT but received no definitive answer.
Today I have had yet another tiresome and frustrating session with a BT bot and, after completing all tests, it yet again stated that although there were indications that the connection was causing disconnects and slowdowns all should be fine now. I immediately ran a speed test which resulted in an unbelievable download speed of 1.23mbps and an upload speed that was too low to register!! Nice work BT!!! [meanwhile my Mac and my now dearly beloved Ethernet cable was coming up with 919mbps↓ and 102 mbps↑]
Any thoughts that might help ....?🤞
Gold medal to anyone who can give me a number to ring so that I can speak to a real person at BT. I rang their connect (and speak to us) number and immediately received a text service link .. God only knows why as it took me straight back to my most annoying bot!

Re: Connection delays and Bot frustrations

How is your Mac connected to the internet if not via the BT Hub and modem? An Ethernet switch is not a connection to the internet and must be connected to your BT hub unless you have 2 broadband services to your property.

Re: Connection delays and Bot frustrations

First there is no BT service guy that would be up a pole sorting cables out. Only Openreach or their contractors have access to poles.

Second are you on FTTC or FTTP? I know a lot other users may question why I ask but originally an Openreach modem was required fro FTTC.

So you can see from the above the lack of information you have given regarding your problem.

Also how are you testing your speeds, from what, to what?

More information helps to point to a resolution.
