Degraded Broadband speed & SNR increase

Go to solution

Hi

Wonder if someone can help. Our speed has been decreasing over the last month from approx 44mbps to 35 mbps and today it's down to 32mbps. SNR has increased from 6db to 10db over the same period. The SNR also decreases when the line is in use (ie downloading games using the full bandwidth). This also leads to a speed decrease on the max line rate.

Maybe the DLM might need to be reset?

Regards

Jonathan

Are you using powerline adapters, if so, what type?

Hi. Thanks for replying so quickly.

Yes, Dlink DHP600AP, however the line stats decrease rather than the homeplug speed decreasing (according to my son).

Please read this page

Interference to broadband caused by powerline adapters or broadband extenders

Can you unplug the extenders, then try a direct connection to the home hub, and see if the speed is any better and whether the line stats remain stable?

Thank you, you've been a great help. We've moved sockets and the speed no longer decreases when downloading.

Data rate is still 32 mbps so my son advises me the DLM may still need a reset if possible.

That`s good. You cannot get a DLM reset on BT Infinity unless there is an actual fault. The speed will recover eventually, if you leave it alone, no restarts or disconnections.

See Why has my speed dropped
