Desperate for solution to diminishing upload speed

Hello, I'd be really grateful for some help on this as it's causing me huge problems.

My upload speed is registering on the router (Smarthub 2) and independently on Ookla at about 650-750kbs. A 2.5mb file should therefore upload in about 3-4 secs and 10 identical files ie 25mb should be less than 45 secs. I've measured the times they actually take several times over using a stopwatch and these indicate upspeeds of just 83kbs for a single file dropping to 52kbs for all 10, ie way down on what it should be. Download speed is broadly stable at 12-14mb.

The following are all the relevant facts I can think of

Switched to fibre about 3 mths ago, upload speed on ADSL was about 550kbs but file uploads at least kept to that speed.

Incoming line/master socket just checked by Openreach and absolutely fine (a fault down the road).

No difference on the above rates between using a laptop and desktop, both on separate ethernet, or using different router ports.

Changing DNS and disabling antivirus/firewall show only marginal improvements.

I am about 900 yds from the cabinet which I know explains the low rate of 750kbs.

I just don't understand why file uploads are falling so far short of the indicated speed and then slow down even further the more is uploaded. I now need to be uploading things regularly but attempting to upload a file of 1gb had to be abandoned after 4 hrs as it stuck on about 70% completion, I'm having to go to a friend's house to do larger uploads. Surely this must be a fixable problem. Does it sound as if the router's faulty or something not done right 3 mths ago on the cutover to fibre?

Many thanks
