Dialling Code Lookup says I'm connected to wrong Cabinet

Hi,

I checked my number & postcode on Magenta Dialling Code Lookup: https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm

It says my postcode is served from the wrong exchange & cabinet, I am connected to a different exchange & cabinet for sure

Could this be the reason the BT wholesale further tests is giving an error?

Could this be the reason for my bad connection?

Re: Dialling Code Lookup says I'm connected to wrong Cabinet

The codelook site isn't 100% accurate.

The reason for your bad connection is as you're aware, the distance you are from the cabinet.

The data on a third party website is also unlikely to be causing the error you're getting with the BT Wholesale tester.

Postcodes can sometimes be covered by different cabinets and indeed exchanges depending on how the Openreach network is routed in that area.

Re: Dialling Code Lookup says I'm connected to wrong Cabinet

@Webby,

I received a mail back, yeah, my postcode is serviced by 2 different exchanges causing a problem, probably ok on the BT side

I sent BT wholesale an email asking what the problem with the speed tester is

The speedtest goes through periods of problems on some lines from time to time I doubt if Wholesale will be able to give you an answer as you are not one of their customers

Re: Dialling Code Lookup says I'm connected to wrong Cabinet

@john46,

my disconnection problems started mid January after bad weather

There was a cherry picker fixing lines at the boundary of the 2 exhanges the day after it started

the Further Diagnositics stopped working at this time too

my connection was stable before this

your line problem has no effect on the wholesale speedtest

@john46,

I think maybe some settings got corrupted during the fixes after this bad weather

It's like in Software- fix 1 bug create another 2 accidently

@licquorice,

I don't accept the laws of physics! lol!

My phone cable runs under a cabinet 1km closer to me, I can't accept that they couldn't be bothered to hook me up to that either lol
