Discount rate for upgrade to Infinity 2.

Hi

I, along with many others, just had email with this offer. I don't think my line can take the extra speed anyway, but curious as to how the figures work out:

Am currently paying £49.49 for BB Infinity 1 and calls, but the offer talks about £48.99 for the BB element for 24 moths. Just want to be clear about how much extra I'd be paying for BB element? (Even though "I'd save £120 over two years etc"..)

I think BT Sport add on and HD is additional to £49.49.

Font have BT Vision.

Thank you.

Re: Discount rate for upgrade to Infinity 2.

In order to find out what services and speed range you may be getting, please enter your phone number into this form.
Broadband availability checker

Please remember to edit out your phone number before you post the results.

As far as the cost is concerned, just deduct the £18.99 line rental from each price, that will give you the broadband cost.

Line rental includes free weekend calls.

Re: Discount rate for upgrade to Infinity 2.

The upgrade to infinity 2 would only be feasible for the following.

You would have a download of more than 60mb as shown by the checker.

Your upload would be higher than 10mb as shown by the checker.

The added extras would be beneficial to you (cloud storage etc.).

According to my reckoning a saving of £1 pm over 2yrs equates to £24. Where does the £120 saving come from?

Re: Discount rate for upgrade to Infinity 2.

Thanks both.

Re speed potential

Line checker says download clean high 80, low 70.

Download impacted high 80, low 55.9.

Upload equivalents are 20, 20 and 20, 17.5.

Re price

£120 over two years is saving shown on BT site. so difference between £48.99 and what one would normally pay?

Also, if I deduct line rental from each price, that would mean, potentially, paying less for Infinity 2 than Infinity 1??

Confused, still

Its simple, it does not cost BT any more to give you Infinity 2, but its the 24 month contract that they like, hence the price reduction Smiley Wink

Re: Discount rate for upgrade to Infinity 2.

The line rental would be the same whichever option you went for and as OFCOM now say it has to be included with thie price I can't see why @Keith_Beddoe suggested deducting it.

The checker shows you can benefit from the upgrade regarding speeds.

The choice is still yours though. It depends what you use your internet for.

@pippincpIt was only to compare prices from beforehand, when line rental was not included as @Longshanks was after just the broadband component of the price.

Re: Discount rate for upgrade to Infinity 2.

Interesting that it doesn't cost BT more to provide service etc. Yet they routinely charge more for Infinity 2😡

Will probably go for it in view of gaming, film streaming, Sky Go etc. Nothing to lose really, aside from 2 year commitment.

Thanks again

It does, they have to pay for the extra backhaul bandwidth required.

It does Keith, backhaul capacity costs money.
