Does a FTTP installation bring it in to same current end point in house?

Hi all,

Does a FTTP installation bring it in to same end point in house if you are currently a BT customer?  So we have Virgin cable customers in the street and virgin insist on bolting boxes to outside of house which can sometimes be nowhere near where the current telecom infrastructure (the old BT stuff) is coming in which can end up having to drill through into living room and moving furniture etc.

Is it the same with BT and new FTTP?  My current BT landline and current BT broadband come in at front door which is handy and out of the road, will FTTP come in at same location?

Cheers

Possibly, possibly not. Most likely it will if that is where you want it.

Is your current BT line fed underground or from a pole?

Then FTTP will probably use the same duct as your copper line.

Cheers.

Would not want equipment bolted on to side of house when a lot of the ducting is there already.

In this area the kids have a 'liking' to kick Virgin terminal boxes of the side of houses, so many are busted open.

If BT FTTP used same type of infrastructure with external boxes left right and center on outside of house then it would have been a non starter.

The FTTP installation will still require an external CSP. Splice point plastic box.

The CSP Openreach use is 6 inch square and about an inch deep.

They’re quite sturdy, certainly a lot more than those ones VM use and would take quite a kick to break them off. Personally I wouldn’t want to kick one in anything other than steel toe capped boots.

Failing that Openreach can install Internal Type CSP’s. They don’t like to use them but will when needs must.
