Download Speed accurate. Upload slow.

Go to solution

I have a problem which is that i should be getting

Up to 76Mb Download

Up to 19Mb Upload speed

As you can see my download is accurate

The upload is way off.

Based on http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/fibre-broadband.html

and

http://recombu.com/digital/news/fibre-broadband-what-is-fttc-aka-fibre-to-the-cabinet_M10851.html

It shows how reduced the speed is based on distance to the cabinet

perfromance.png

I have added the orange line which shows actual on left and what should be expect on right

I have drawn my distance and what speed i should be able to get up to

It shows that vdsl2 should be able to provide me with 40Mbps

Is there any reason my upload is so slow?

all speeds are up to speeds there is no guarantee of up load speed and certainly no one ever gets a 40mb upload with fibre to cabinet fibre to home more possible

will you please run  the BT speedtest  once the first test completes then run the further diagnostics test and  post back the results http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/

Hi

I don't expect to get 40Mbps i was just making the point that it doesnt seem to be a cabinet distance problem

The BT speed tester gave

Download Speed (Mbps): 67.80

Upload Speed (Mbps): 5.75

Ping Latency (ms): 25.63

you could try a restart of the home hub only that has sometimes increased the speed but no guarantee

A better thing to try is to directly connect the PC to the modem and set up a broadband PPPOE connection. This will rule out the Homehub as it's not being used.
