Had a copper line fault (loop) which was fixed last week, errors had caused Broadband to slow down from previous 71-74Mbs to 67Mbps (downstream handback on my line is 72.8Mbps)
Copper Openreach Engineer, fixed fault and replaced master socket with new 5C MK4 version
Both SNR and Line Attenuation improved after the socket was replaced as well
Requested a "DLM Reset" today as the speed had not improved after a week, which apparently has been actioned. Router re-established a connection afterwards.
However, using some old screenshots from previous router stats to build a history
The SNR after the DLM Reset has dropped to 6db, but the connection sync speed is now much lower
Is this normal? After a DLM Reset should the line not be unbanded and attempting maximum speed again?
Getting and even slower 60Mbps now
Odd with a lower SNR should the sync speed not be faster?
Does the line enter any re-training period after a DLM Reset?

how did you request a DLM reset? if helpdesk then they just reboot your hub
if it was a broadband engineer not phone engineer who fixed the fault then he could have requested a DLM reset
It was the Openreach Broadband engineer that requested the DLM Reset.
Very confused at the moment why it appears to have had the opposite effect on speed
....when the stat's look as if they have improved?
A DLM reset puts everything back to an open profile, give it a few days and G.Inp and 3dB margin will probably kick back in.
Which exchange and cab are you on?

I'm glad to hear the engineer visit has sorted the problems. Your best bet would be to leave everything connected to allow the connection to recover. Give it a few days and post back and let us know how you get on.

I'm in I.T and technical myself, I find it useful to know what's happening. The community is a reassurance for that.
Hopefully that sync speed and overall speed will start climbing in the next few days then.
