FTTP Infinity Speeds

Can anyone please help me with the easiest way to get BT to help me with my Infinity speed issues. I've just spent an hour waiting and 'chatting' to Live Chat Broadband Technical Help only to be told they can't help me because I'm on FTTP. They told me to call 151 tomorrow but won't that just put me straight through to the useless call centre again !?!

I've had awful speeds for a week now .. wired speeds are 12MBps with a ping of 27.

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

Can you post your IP Profile by running the BT Performance test at www.speedtest.btwholesale.com please? When the first test has finished, press the Further Diagnostics button then after you enter your post code and building number, your IP Profile should be displayed.

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

There used to be an Infinity Fibre support number 0800 032 0843
but it may have been discontinued.

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

Hi Just_Liz,

I'm no expert but those IP Profiles look remarkably like Infinity 2, i.e. FTTC, not FTTP.

Are you sure you are on FTTP ?

Best regards,

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

As FTTP is available at varying speeds the IP Profile will be dependent on the package purchased

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

Infinity 1 and 2 are available on FTTP as well as Infinity 3 and 4.

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

FTTP is a fixed rate 330mbps.  If you have FTTP then you would only really have issues when the source site can not send that fast.

There is no vector/cross talk issuses if you really have paid out for fibre to door :)... I hope they didn`t scratch the Ferrari when they put it in 🙂

Re: FTTP Infinity Speeds

So I have the Infinity 2 Unlimited Package, but via FTTP. So the IP Profile matches what I'm paying for.  Just had BT Support on the phone and the wired speeds were just now 79MBps, but wireless was 8MBps.

They didn't know why my wired speeds for the last few evenings had been low, and now we start the rigmarole of trying to figure out why my HH5 is dishing out terrible wireless speeds.

They are looking into it being one of the following issues:

Windows 8 compatibility

"Other devices" in my household

Dual band channel SSIDs

etc etc

If anyone has any further practical advice, I would really appreciate it !

Liz
