FTTP Ping rate 900MB line

I no this probably is just me curious but for those on FTTP what are your ping rates. I am using a netgear nighthawk router and linked to a netgear simple switch 8 port and was wondering or curious of other peoples ping. And what devices you having good success with.

Or would u consider 14ms good

Depends on the server and routing. Lowest I've seen is 5ms on Speedtest.net.

It depends on the server but mine is generally between 5.0 and 6.0 to speedtest.net servers (and has been as low as 4.1)

Re: FTTP Ping rate 900MB line

@david39ni closest speed servers giving me 6-12 ms, which I consider very good.

It's as mentioned by others, very depends on server, routing, and many other factors.

I never seen less then 5 ms at any point of time, and most of the servers giving me back less then 25 ms (which I do not consider impressive at all, for full fibre service with tag 900 Mbps (which by own is almost nowhere there :))

But still, all this numbers from Speedtests are theoretical... Real world is somewhere else...

Located at Newcastle upon Tyne, on exchange Gosforth, with 0.6 mile route between my SH2 and exchange....

Examples:

- email server located at Czech republic giving me usually 50 ms response on route over 15 hops

- most of BBC servers will give me under 16 ms and still around 10 hops

- Google.com returns 12-13 ms over 11 hops...

- Netflix servers are 8-16 ms with wide differences over the time of the day and 12 hops...

Do I am happy with results like that? Of course I am, it's generally fine....

Yes, I seen more impressive pings, when I was on Hyperoptic (in general 2-4 ms to most of the UK destinations!!)...

Yes, I seen less impressive pings, when I was on VM back in London (in general 50+ ms to most of the UK destinations!!)...

Speed as own?

At range up 750 Mbps down (hard wired) or up to 600 Mbps down (WiFi) and stable 117-119 Mbps up is still far behind FALSELY advertised FF900, but it's good...
