Just post photos, reduce the size with Paint or some such.

Then that would just be an extension socket, from the main master socket downstairs. If the RJ11 DSL lead from the home hub plugs directly it it, without a filter, then its probably an RJ11 socket, and its simply a data extension socket from the master socket.

Re: FTTP installation

Which socket are you connecting to on the hub, the DSL socket or the WAN socket?

Re: FTTP installation

I'm guessing you have a copper phone line downstairs and fibre upstairs but that doesn't stack up with the installation information you were given.

Does the white box have LEDs labelled PONand LOS?

Pictures really would make this easier

Re: FTTP installation

Nope. I believe downstairs is in fact copper as this is where the old style broadband came in, then when we changed to BT infinity “fibre” it all went upstairs

Re: FTTP installation

Sounds like a data extention socket.

Just have a word with the install engineer when he comes.

Re: FTTP installation

Can't be, that would connect to DSL socket not WAN. I suspect 'white box' is Openreach modem. We could have resolved this hours ago with pictures

Re: FTTP installation

I know the difference between a socket and a modem mate, I’m at work so can’t get photos or I would.

Re: FTTP installation

The only way you can connect a socket to a hub WAN port is if the socket is an RJ45 supplying Ethernet from either an ONT or modem elsewhere.
