FTTP: no wifi connection for laptop (only) on new install

I've just had FTTP installed and it's working well with my iPad, desktop PC (Win10Pro), TV and phones.

However, it will not work with my laptop (Win8.1Pro). The laptop is wifi connected to the router - I can see it on the network from another device.

The troubleshooter says: "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings". I've tried all the stuff from Google searches: uninstalling adapters, checking that auto proxy and DNS items are checked, etc., etc. - nothing!

On the BT HomeHub page the laptop looks to be set that same as the PC.

Any ideas please?

Have you checked the driver for the wifi card are up to date from from manufacturer website and not reply on windows update

does the laptop ' see ' the hub SSID?

have you tried changing the wireless mode in the hub from1 to either 2 or 3

Thank you imjolly.

It's an old machine but has its latest drivers.

Yes, it sees the SSID.

I'm not sure I can do this as other people need the advanced features!
