FTTP on demand

Go to solution

At the moment I am on FTTC with speed of download 8.5 and upload 1.0.

I am now waiting for FTTP ON DEMAND to go live which will fed by overhead fibre cable

from a telegraph pole about 10 meters from my house.

do I have to pay for this or is it covered by bt.

I know open reach have got to do a survey before they install it.

Re: FTTP on demand

FTTP on Demand is not generally a residential product.

It is aimed at businesses and is expensive to get installed as the user has to pay for the bespoke installation.

The link shows the cost to the ISP and there will then be a mark up charge to the end user.

Re: FTTP on demand

I doubt it is FTTP on Demand you are getting as following the survey you will have been given an estimate of the cost you will have to pay before it goes ahead.

What makes you think it is FTTPoD you are getting?

@gg30340  that link is for the old banded prices which were superseded nearly two years ago - the current build prices are much more expensive  but can be partially offset by the Gigabit Voucher Scheme and there is now only a 12 month initial contract at £100+vat pm.

The price list shown was published in December 2018 so is not two years old however if there are new prices that you are aware of I won't argue. Perhaps Openreach need to remove the page from their website.

Seems strange that they installed it when it’s only residential area where I live,
I got the information from BT wholesale

Are you sure it is FTTP on Demand and not just FTTP.

Re: FTTP on demand

I was going by the small print at the bottom of the BT wholesale broadband

checker page, it said FTTP not available.

so I might have made a mistake.

Re: FTTP on demand

I suspect that you have.

FTTP on Demand can be available where there is no FTTP because it is a bespoke service installed at the customers cost.

See link about FTTP on Demand

@gg30340 if you look at the end of the table you will see that the banded charges were withdrawn Feb 1st 2018.
