FTTP roll-out by a 3rd party company

Go to solution

Hi

I’m currently on a FTTC internet package with BT. A 3rd party supplier, Airband, is apparently going to roll-out FTTP to my semi-rural location early next year.  I’m not clear whether this means that I would have to leave BT and have Airband as my new ISP if I want FTTP. Would someone please explain how it works.

My preference is to stay with BT rather than switch to a ISP that I know little about.

Thanks.

@Jetta68

If you wanted to use Airband, then you would have to leave BT Retail, and that would involve cancellation charges if you are still in a contract. You would also lose your phone number, if that is important to you.

OK, thanks.

Will the fact that Airband will have rolled out FTTP in my area affect if/when BT will roll it out here?

No, its Openreach not BT Retail that provide FTTP, if  its commercially viable.
