We have put together a short survey to capture your feedback in terms of what BT can do when you experience home Wi-Fi issues. We would appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to complete a short survey. Read more from here, Fix my home Wi-Fi
Your profile has been banded at 25 Meg due to all those disconnections as a result of the recent bad weather. You need to give it at least 10 days to relent & remove any banding.
Thanks for the info but my connection is totally unusable.
even banding my profile has slowed to diconnects down.
I don't own a phone but the openreach engineer plugged in everything he had. Pretty sure i'm not going to detect anything he didn't.
wholst not the same of the line was noisy wouldn't it show in the stats?
if I can ever get out of working for a period I will buy a cheap phone from Argos
A high resistance joint or noise on the line will not show up on the stats, as it will be intermittent.
It may also only be there while there is a broadband connection running.
The only way is to plug in a phone and run the quiet line test. Plug the phone into the phone side of the microfilter.
The sort of problem you are getting will manifest itself as a very random crackling noise. It may only be every couple of minutes, but each one has the ability to cause a disconnection.
See my post earlier in this thread https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Fibre-broadband/Fibre-Broadband-Outages-Help-Needed/m-p/2006261#M2987...
I don't think you are banded as tour connection speed is just below attainable and banding does not affect attainable speed
your connection speed is well below expected from dslchecker results and suggest a line problem and you really need to do the most basic test as @Keith_Beddoe suggested of checking line for noise
I will do as you suggest.
i'm off to buy a telephone this morning but due to work will not get the chance to test the line until tomorrow probably
So the last of my neighbours connected to the same pole have gotten back to me and are not having issues. Not the most scientific of tests I know.
Off to buy a phone to do a quiet line test
Bought a phone, did a quiet line test and it is soooo crackly, like no let up constant crackling.
how could the 1st engineer miss that because evidence suggest it was there as my broadband has been toast for 10 days
