'Caution  overhead fibre' message on poles either side of my house,how can I find out when I am likely to be connected as I am now out of contract and do not want to sign up and then find fibre is available.

Unfortunately, fibre is not currently available to you. However, there is no reason not to renew your contract and simply upgrade to fibre if or when it becomes available.
