Full fibre hub lights

Hi all

I had full fibre fitted last week. There were 2 lights on - Power green and LAN green and flickering. The engineer told me there should be 3 lights and the remaining one would come on within a few days. The light didn't come on - PON I assume looking it up. He told me to call him if I had any issues so I did and he told me there had been a software update and the light no longer needed to be on. Is this correct? I can't see any mention of it online - just that if the PON light isn't on you're not connected.

Thanks for any advice

Re: Full fibre hub lights

make sure the cables are securely inserted into the ONT (white box) and then switch power off, wait 30 secs and then turn power back on.  if still nothing then you need to phone CS 03301234150 and report fault

the PON light should be green

Re: Full fibre hub lights

You haven’t stated if your service is working or not , if your service is working OK , then it’s a little irrelevant, but usually the PON light only has two states , solid green or flashing green , (it can go dark for a few minutes during authentication, but after that , solid if accepted on the network by the headend , and flashing green while attempting to join the network) …it can be a little confusing if the ONT has combined LOS/PON LED rather than two separate LED’s because where a single LED performs both functions    it can also show red , indicating a loss of signal….so the light not lit at all seems odd , perhaps there has been a software change , or perhaps it’s nonsense what you were told and the reason it’s not solid green (assuming your FTTP service is working OK ) is because the ONT has a non service affecting fault ( probably just the LED is broken)

Yes I have broadband. There are separate PON and LOS lights. Both are off

Re: Full fibre hub lights

At a guess then I’d say the PON light is faulty  , it should be on and steady green , as it’s not affecting anything personally I’d just leave it alone , you could try power cycling the ONT just to see if it illuminates at any point as it powers up (proving it’s capable of lighting up ) and it could conceivably remain lit (if it were just a glitch during initialisation) , but that may be a risk if then your service fails to come back completely so no service as well as no PON light , you could report it but making it understood what the issue is ( just cosmetic) may be frustrating and possibly not worth the effort to get the ONT replaced just to have another green light lit on it  ….the LOS light off is what you want , if it comes on you have a service affecting problem as it means no light or an insufficient level of light is being received.
