Re: HH5 New Software Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204

Well, that could have happened but not because of one reboot. DLM changes are queued to be applied when the modem next resyncs or it forces a reboot overnight if the modem hasn't resynced.

DLM will apply changes if it detects instability on your line - many reboots, or many errors.

A slight variant on previous posts in this long thread:-

Mine updated 2 days ago (without any prompts such as resetting the hub manually).

Since then there has been one reboot with the results shown below.

Note the low noise margins. The upload / download speed profile has been increased very slightly from the previous of 12mbps up 50 mbps down. Noise margin is usually quite stable throughout the day, although there's a slight increase after 8-30 am most days, and a slight increase over weekends.

However it appears from previous experience that there are more adjustments to come. Wonder whether there will be fewer disconnects.

The only other thing I have done in the last day is add a BT8500 trio phone system. Could the Call Guardian feature affect the stability of the line in anyway like it supposedly was said by someone else on this forum but which completely broke there infinity. If the white modem only disconnects every two weeks that is a good thing compared to the hub modem which after the first week started to disconnect every other day.

It never used to disconnect every 2 weeks so I never understood why it started doing it January last year. Its not a good thing because it never did it specifically before January 21st 2014. Why did it start when everyone started complaining on the forums about the 1.6 update for HH5 then?
Plus I went through a plethora of different set ups to get my connection to work with a hh3a, hh3b, hh4a and a hh5a I'm currently using. Plus I've been through 2 open reach modems. So in my opinion it's not good stop supporting a clearly broken system geez lol sorry but putting up with this for over a year with no good alternatives is a little irritating.
I want my service back like I had in December 2013! That's all. Is that hard to get back? Hmmm perhaps.

Also does high signal and noise attenuation effect speed, mine seems higher than most on here.

Re: HH5 New Software Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204

My router is showing that it updated the firmware to .204 on Monday (19th Jan 15) which just happens to coincide with the last time I used my company's VPN. Tried working from home today only to have the VPN fail to connect. Spoke to my company's IT (because when something goes wrong it's normally their fault) but they explained that they were having a lot of trouble with users trying to connect via BT.

Called BT customer services. They tried disabling the Smart WiFi option and when that didn't work they suggested calling the Tech "Experts". When I explained the problem to them I got the standard response of " we don't support VPN".

A little trawling the internet led me to fiddle with settings I really shouldn't fiddle with and I still can't connect. I have since contacted customer services again to ask for the update to be removed from my router and they are going to call me back tomorrow.

I know this is a niche issue, but I feel really let down. Ordinarily, I work in a very overcrowded office and working from home is an option that almost everyone has to ease that problem. I won't be the only one who can't connect, so the office us going to be uncomfortably (maybe even dangerously) full while these issues continue and BT do nothing to fix them under the banner of "we don't support VPN".

A similar issue hit last year for hub3a users - it took BT a month to get them sorted. I'm hoping it doesn't take that long or I'm going to have to start looking for alternatives...

Anyone else having this sort of problem?

Like I said my HH5 disconnects every other day so every two weeks with the white modem seems an improvement but like you are saying it should not disconnect at all unless there is an update.

Errr, now what's going on.

I have .204 since the 18th and the HH5 has started showing that thing again (5A-FixMajorUpgrade-4.1 etc)

Is there more on the way?
