HH5 reset.. many many times!.

My HH5 keeps reseting, infact 4 times since I came home from work at 5. Below are my stats lines 1-13 and I have performed a quiet line test. It dropped out a few times last night and approx 2 other days this week.

I can tell when its happend as I use unblock us and netflix, when the router reconnects I get a new IP and have to log into the website to accept the IP change before I can continue watching whatever it is.

Can I get some mod help please if possible.

Re: HH5 reset.. many many times!.

 Hi

Personally , I'd raise  fault & see if the line checks come back with anything that might need an openreach visit.

https://www.bt.com/consumerFaultTracking/public/faults/reporting.do?pageId=21

Also check if there is anything up locally with openreach's new checker tool.
http://www.homeandwork.openreach.co.uk/problems-with-your-phone-or-broadband/search.aspx

You alread done the Qline Test ..

If  the line comes back with no faults found;

Then possibly research using a eci/r or hg612 modem* with the hh5 or get a 3rd party router {asus/netgear ect}

{*With The unlocked modems you can also see the line stats and switch on/off certain options as well..}

For what ever reason , the HH5 can be great on most lines , but a not so good on others  {mine included}

As you've problably noticed the amount of other hh5 threads :smileywink:

Re: HH5 reset.. many many times!.

Hi Barry,

I have done the checks and both clear.

I actually own this house and the one next door, both running infinity option 2. (My parents live in the other house). I need the router to be stable as we only watch catchup type services. The main reason is my security cameras when the router drops I need to find out the outside IP to make sure I can access the cameras.

THanks

John

Re: HH5 reset.. many many times!.

I suggest you try a factory reset of the hub

Re: HH5 reset.. many many times!.

If its stablity you looking for then definitely  reasearch using a separate modem & higher end router.

The hh5 also seems to reset the leases every 21 days which could be a problem for your cctv ???

I took the advice from the  ^Guru's^  got a unlocked eci/r modem* and dug out my old tomato linksys router & I don't have any of the dissconnects , updates,  loss of lease, calling home or what ever other mischief  the hh5 gets up to.

The unlocked modems either eci/r or hg612 3b and asus ac68u seem a very popular set up on here.

{I'm on an eci green street box}

Re: HH5 reset.. many many times!.

I will try the reset.

I don't want to buy another modem/router. I have the money but the issue is I'm already paying for a service in fact I'm paying for two sets of BT infinity.

I will try the reset but if that fails I will be looking for a HH5 swap out. If a mod could get back to me that would be good.

Thanks k you for the advice on modem/router change but I'm not buying one on principle.

Thank you and enjoy your evening.

Stick to them and be at the mercy of your ISP.  The choice is of course yours.
