Re: High electric consumption since fibre upgrade

Just out of interest . . . no-one has physically read our non-smart meter for well over two years.

The last time someone arrived to read the meter, they did not have a password, so my wife quite correctly would not let them in. No one has been near us since, despite two changes of supplier in that time. We submit the readings online and the bill is paid by direct debit.

I personally do not see any advantage in having a "smart meter". It will make absolutely no difference whatsoever to our consumption. What we are not using is switched off and that includes things like TVs and so on that are not left on standby when we are not using them.

This thread is running well off topic, and is of little help to the op who posted an open query.

Be careful, there could be a chance of it being locked.

Perhaps a new thread should be started.

Does that really matter as it has nothing to do with fibre broadband.
