I previously had ordinary DSL but he speed went down

 

I had several seperate days where my DSL would continuously disconnect

 

I think there was work done at the Cabinet or Exchange which caused this

 

Would the DLM still have a record of this poor connection history?

Quite possibly, yes but it's hard to say definitevely.

 

Here's an article I found whilst googling, that explains better than I can, about DLM and although it primarily discusses ADSL, the principles are the same for VDSL/Infinity.

The line reset when you switched to faster broadband should be you starting from scratch again. So stable connection as already said would be best at least for first week
