Homehub 6 reboots every 3-4 days

Hi recently the last month or so my router homehub 6 would randomly reboot every 3-4 days.
It does not efect my data rate but just wondering what would be the cause for this? Not sure if its the router
or im experiencing noise on the line.

We also recently just had virgin media cable our street and i have noticed fair few switching to there network so not to sure wether that may cause
problems with crosstalk?

Many thanks

Re: Homehub 6 reboots every 3-4 days

It cannot be crosstalk due to people switching to VM as they have their own independant network that is not connected to Openreach.

You can check for line noise by using the quiet line test, 17070 option 2 and best with corded phone. Any noise between announcements report a line fault on 151. Don't mention broadband as you'll end up with the wrong dept.

Re: Homehub 6 reboots every 3-4 days

Hi

thanks so much for your reply.

I have tested the phone line and the line seems ok?

My disconnections normally happened late at night early hours and checking on the log files it says warm reset from the homehub.

My download speeds fluctuate between 76-77mb

just worried dlm might kick me on slower profile.

My line is now approaching 4 days uptime so i may check my phone line and noise margin to see wether any changes happened after midnight.

Thank you again.

Re: Homehub 6 reboots every 3-4 days

The Hub rebooting is likely down to either a faulty Hub or an electrical item turning on/off causing a SHINE (Single Impulse Noise Event) that causes the Hub to reboot. Do you know of any item that may do this in your property or in the close vicinity?

Hi @Techwizz ,

Just for the record, anything less that 5 disconnects per day is not classed as a fault by BT and will not be investigated.

Just for the record, that's what the helpdesk may say.

Hi @pippincp ,

No, that was not from the help desk.  It was the outcome of extensive dialogue with a mod on here.

@pompey1898, I know that, I didn't say that it needed to be investigated by BT, I was just helping the OP to see if they could track down the cause of the disconnects.

Re: Homehub 6 reboots every 3-4 days

Hi all just had the usual disconnection after the 4th day, seems to happene after midnight. I may have to try another router to see wether that solves the problem.

Techwizz im not to sure what to look out for to investigate the cause. I will report back to see wether new modem solves the problem but as for sync speeds they seem to be fine for now.

Thanks again.

Yes, one resync, even once a day, will not cause any DLM intervention. Not sure why it would be rebooting though? Have you tried a factory reset?
