Hub flashing purple

Go to solution
Good evening

I had BT infinity 1 set up on Jan/Feb this year.

I had a new master socket 5C to replace the old one and where the existing extension socket was another 5C socket installed to replace whatever was there beforehand .

Due to not moving into the property I did not set up the broadband straight away as I am still not living in it.

Around a month ago I installed the hub all on the extension socket and all appeared to be working fine. I am not living there so only visited occasionally. I noticed last week that it was flashing purple on the hub. I powered it on and off again and all seemed fine.

Today I have spent more time at my house and found when I visited today it was already flashing purple. I do the restart and all seems fine for between 5-10 minutes before it then flashes purple.

Is there any reason for this?

I will have to have a proper look tomorrow, is there any advice for things I should try before contacting BT?

Connect to the master socket.

The 5c is a filterd faceplate so the broadband signal is filtered out of any extentions. I cannot understand why a 5c faceplate was fitted to an extension as well.

Thank you I will try tomorrow.

If it works on the master socket does that mean there is a fault with the extension and socket?

Thank you, so basically the 5C socket where the extension is needs to be replaced for the broadband to flow through?

That's not a 5c SSFP. Does your master have 2 sockets?

Both of my sockets are as shown above, just one socket

Both appear identical with Master Socket 5C on them.

It depends on where you want to plug the home hub into, as any unfiltered extension wiring is likely to reduce speed.

The master one, should really be a filtered socket, provided that is where you are going to plug the home hub.
