Re: IP Profile lowered AGAIN

I actually had them send out an engineer previously when the line originally went from 75mbps to 50mbps given the guy who installed it told me he felt I lived close enough to my green cabinet that the connection wouldn't really drop much at all. I live about 100-150meters away from my green cabinet by way of road.

The engineer BT sent out when I phoned them (because at this point their BT Infinity site still said I would be getting about 65mbps down and 20mbps up) said he'd reset the ip config and never did. I didn't bother following that up as I felt that it was probably fine having a 50mbps connection given the previous BB connection had between 4mbps at the very most.

It just feels like they're throttling my connection and I don't know why. It's extremely rare that the internet completely disconnects, and I've restarted the white box maybe twice in all the time I've had it.

I'm just not really down for getting 35-40mbps down/6-7mbps up internet when I was originally told it's be almost twice that.

Can you re-run the speedtest further diagnostics and post the results as you did in your first post.

Re: IP Profile lowered AGAIN

OR enginner came round this morning, a smashing chap really nice did all checks as required did a full DLM reset on the line and bam went straight back up to my correct speeds, just need to get a UPS as @ste211270 showed on the thread but @£149.99 its quite an expensive buy when it is not your fault!. OR or BT or whoever should look at the DLM cause it is a terrible little monster and the bad part is a power cut will happen again and the DLM will send it write back down again also the engineer said not always does it work leaving your equipment weeks on end to lift your speeds an engineer reset is your only option if that happens!!!. Obviously it does work for most people but just a few percentage out there it does not, i.e ME!. 😞

Re: IP Profile lowered AGAIN

Glad your connection got sorted out, maybe if more stuff like this happens they'll eventually start looking into their DLM measures.

Thanks for the links, yes I see its cheaper I know in the btshop they have one but its alot of money seems mad though as its not my fault having to buy one but yes it would be dead handy!. Connection is running wicked at the moment I must report, ping is being smashed to 13 - 15 ms, no jitter, it seems to be running really smooth at this time!. 😉

Re: IP Profile lowered AGAIN

So my ip profile has gone back up to 50mbps, which is awesome, but for some reason I can't download any faster than 3.5mbps on Steam :S

It's probably fine though, thanks for the advice folks!

Re: IP Profile lowered AGAIN

So my ip profile has suddenly been dropped to 33mbps now.

Is there anything I can actually do about this, given BT's adamance that I'm getting the best possible speed? Even when they sent an engineer out he said he'd reset the ip profile and then never did it.

Am I stuck?

Nope, nothing you can do, it's within BT's spec.

I am in the same boat, problems with latency, Iplayer buffers,YouTube buffers, gaming lags like hell, but yet its "within" tolerance of BT's specifications, I was told by a BT Infinity Broadband adviser that nothing will be done unless I have a constant ping of 100ms plus. I have been trying since December 2012 to get it sorted. Would be faster to claim a personal injury..... I was sold the service for gaming as it was sold with low gaming pings, my interleaving has NEVER been turned off, only when the OR engineer did a complete reset, but it always goes back up, and still they will not take responsibility over the dodgy connection as its within their spec.

So I guess that your speed will be OK in BT's eyes as its not under 16Mbps, have fun, enjoy the frustration and waiting.
