IP address has changed

Just done a speedtest on speedtest.net and noticed my ip address has changed - why is this?

 

On infinity 1

 

download speeds still the same, only thing different is I installed BT netprotect plus!

The IP address is dynamic. It will change when your router starts a new PPPOE session.

speedtest now has my location as Preston, it was Liverpool!

Locations of IP addresses are usually wrong.

It depends which POP (Point of Presence) site you are connected to, it could be anywhere. There was one report of a connection to a BT Global POP site in the USA.

It may be because your ip address is dynamic.  Indeed, this is the BT Infinity home forum, and everybody on that package has a dynamic IP.  It is very rare to get static IP from any ISP unless you pay somewhat more than standard Infinity prices.

 

Also, be aware that BT uses CGNAT for some people, where your IP address is shared with other users.
