Infinity 1 16Mb Connection Speed Instead of at least 27Mb Expected Out of Possible 30-39Mb

I changed from Unlimited broadband to Infinity 1 being connected on 23 July expecting between 30-39Mb being told by BT the lowest I can expect will be 27Mb but the best I have had is just above 16Mb.  I have just restarted my HH5 so I know I need to wait for it to settle down over a number of days but I have been checking over the last few weeks.  A friend living close by is getting 38.8Mb although they may be slightly closer to the cabinet than me.

was it self install?  if so are you conencted to the test socket with a new filter or do you have a SSFP MK3

Thanks for replying.  It was a self install.  I have tried changing to a new filter today but it is now at 16.21Mbs.  I do not have a SSFP MK3, I have the following one:

Have you tried connecting to the test socket which is behind the bottom half of the socket and see if that helps your connection especially if you have extension sockets

Re: Infinity 1 16Mb Connection Speed Instead of at least 27Mb Expected Out of Possible 30-39Mb

Have removed faceplate and tried to connect via test socket (I think that is correct) and have redone the BTW Performance, now as follows:

BT Performance (2).PNG

1. Product name:BT Home Hub
2. Serial number:+068543+NQ51605134
3. Firmware version:Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204.1.11 (Type A) Last updated 24/07/15
4. Board version:BT Hub 5A
5. DSL uptime:0 days, 00:53:58
6. Data rate:6964 / 23541
7. Maximum data rate:6964 / 23758
8. Noise margin:6.1 / 6.2
9. Line attenuation:31.2 / 25.3
10. Signal attenuation:31.1 / 22.5
11. Data sent/received:1.2 GB / 6.0 GB
12. Broadband username:bthomehub@btbroadband.com

Does this mean there is a problem with the faceplate? Although it is still not the 27Mb that BT said would be the lowest speed I can expect.

not necessarily a faulty faceplate it could be faulty wiring on any extensions in your house which using the test socket eliminates

Re: Infinity 1 16Mb Connection Speed Instead of at least 27Mb Expected Out of Possible 30-39Mb

Hi, Update on my problem.... After my hub recently reset itself I started getting 9Mb after the 15Mb I had originally, not a happy bunny, so I bought an ADSL2+ faceplate filter and have just fitted it to the nte backplate and yippee I am now getting 21Mb (around the same as from the test socket) and my other telephone extension socket in another room on the same number is also working fine.

New Problem

There is one BUT though and that is that I have found my other telephone line (with a different telephone number) now doesn't work at all, HELP please. It had worked before.  All I did was put the wires in the same positions on the new faceplate (blue into 5, orange into 3, white into 2).  Any idea what may be wrong now please?

I have included some pictures to maybe help identify the problem.

Original Socket and Wiring

New Socket and Wiring after I changed it

Wall Part (this wiring was how it was originally done). The socket on the left of the two sockets is a different telephone number which now doesn't seem to work.

So thank you imjolly and john46 the faulty faceplate is now sorted, now just need to get other phone line working.  Any ideas anybody please?
