What was your point about posting a link to it. It's not against forum rules so why comment on it?
Ive had my knuckles rapped for posting links to other isp, But if thats ok fill your boots, or if thats because its part of the BT group i suppose it depends who posts it?
It depends on what context you are posting. If it is advertising their services or prices and such like that is not allowed.
It's a while since I read that one but if I recall it was for ADSL and does not mention VDSL which is covered better in the PlusNet link.
"However, one thing to check is that you don't have star wiring, where an extension is taken from a junction box on the incoming feed before the master socket"
No, the ethernet is running from the master socket. My IP profile was always 38.91 on day 1, and my effective speed I was getting not much lower than that
Anyway, since they messed around rebooting my line 12 times following the call, my profile has gone down overnight, so I hope it picks back up again
Judging by the noise margins, your line is going at about the speed that would be expected.
What was the estimated speed? You can get that at https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
May I ask which statistic points to me getting a slow IP profile?
8. Noise margin: 6.1 / 6.0
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 18.4
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 16.4
Their stats were
Noise margin: 6.0 / 8.5 ; Line attenuation: 0.0 / 14.0 ; Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 14.1
Download speed of 50Mpbs
The advice here was "their noise margin is 8.5 when the optimum is 6."
So my noise margin is near optimum
I understand my down line attenuation of 14.0 is pretty good (read a story how someone's wiring was fixing by a BT engineer and it reduced from 22 to 14 and made a big difference")
Signal attenuation - slightly higher than the above
So which bit of my line stats suggest I will get a poor IP profile?
You have said that you are about 400mtrs straight line from the cabinet. If your line does take a straight line the distance is a big contributing factor on what sort of speed you can expect. Given your stats and distance to the cabinet I think you are getting as good as it gets.
See graph. Infinity is VDSL2.
