Infinity 2 speeds dropped to Infinity 1 speeds

Hello.

I have Infinity2 and up untill now i've had no problems with it at all.

Been having some DNS issues for the past few days and while trying to investigate that I noticed in the router my speeds were very low from normal, after going through I found my speeds to be matching roughly infinity 1 speeds after going through the logs I found this.

18:22:25, 28 Sep.( 140.890000) PPPoE is up - Down Rate=67180000Kbps, Up Rate=18253000Kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.5dB, Up=6.0dB

and today its now

17:30:14, 27 Oct.( 105.760000) PPPoE is up - Down Rate=35700000Kbps, Up Rate=10424000Kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.2dB, Up=6.1dB

At first it though it was perhaps just a peak time thing but after going through the logs the speed has been slowly going down the past month or so.

I have done a performance test which is below .

Download speedachieved during the test was - 30.63 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 24.19 Mbps-34.56 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 34.56 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 8.76Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

and finally a broadband availabilty checker

Telephone Number *********** on Exchange KILWINNING is served by Cabinet 15

Is there anything I can do to get my broadband back to its former speeds? at this rate paying for infinity2 seems a bit pointless when im only getting infinity1 speeds out of it.

Any help before I try a phone call would be great.

Thanks.

Please display the connection speed by following the instructions on this page.

Check your connection speed for the Home Hub 5

Re: Infinity 2 speeds dropped to Infinity 1 speeds

have you tried using the terst socket with a filter and see if that improves your conenction especially if you have extension sockets in other rooms  test socket.jpg

Re: Infinity 2 speeds dropped to Infinity 1 speeds

I cant use the test socket tonight I will try tomorrow but nothing has changed in the past month from when the speed was what I would get normally to what im getting now and would it not be a sudden change in speed/quality over night?

I went over the logs for the past month and the homehub has been connecting at slower speeds gradually.

In any case I will try the test socket tomorrow.

Re: Infinity 2 speeds dropped to Infinity 1 speeds

if there is no improvement after conencting to test socket then you need to get engineer visit but at least you will ave eliminated your internal wiring as being a problem

you may find conenction speed is about the same but also check the max data rate to see if that goes back up to nearer speed you expect as currently that is just above your conenction speed with noise margin about normal 6db

Re: Infinity 2 speeds dropped to Infinity 1 speeds

After a much unintended delay I have finally got around to testing the internet through the test socket here are the results.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 33.94 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 24.57 Mbps-35.1 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 35.1 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 8.84Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

5. DSL uptime:0 days, 00:23:28
6. Data rate:10409 / 36267
7. Maximum data rate:10549 / 36184
8. Noise margin:6.2 / 6.2
9. Line attenuation:21.4 / 17.9
10. Signal attenuation:21.2 / 16.5

The Speed has remained roughly the safe through the test socket as it did through the normal faceplate and can only imagine there is indeed something wrong with the lines beyond my house considering I was getting nearly double the down/up speeds I am currently.

Re: Infinity 2 speeds dropped to Infinity 1 speeds

Been on the phone to BT and the first thing they mention is the BT Line is at fault and the person on the phone was very confused as to how I could be calling from the landline at all. It seems the land line fault is causing the speed to drop also. The engineer is booked for wednesday to figure out whats gone wrong I will mark this as resolved and thanks for your time.
