Re: Infinity Getting 0.10MBS download and 11.5MBS upload for 16 hours now

You may be encountering congestion which prevents you from downloading at full speed, but BT usually increases backhaul over time when demand regualrly exceeds the available bandwidth.

Infinity Getting 0.10MBS download and 11.5MBS upload for 16 hours now

Aww come on Ray <<  getting such a slow speed cannot be reasonably attributed to congestion. I've been complaining about congestion for ages but it normally manifests as sporadic bursts of packet loss here not a total anhillation of your speed. General speed reduction over a period of time can also be an indicator of congestion - your speed being reduced to maintain service to all.

I would complain to BT (again) << wait 24 hours for them (they wont tell you but they maybe are having a problem somewhere which may be quickly fixed).

And if the problem persists come back on here and ask for a Moderator to investigate for you.

That would be a consequence of congestion and the solution would be the same.

Re: Infinity Getting 0.10MBS download and 11.5MBS upload for 16 hours now

Congestion: So what we have is a major advertising campaign by BT to get everyone on 'superfast' broadband acroos the country but now they are reaping the rewards of NOT having sufficient bandwidth to service all users all of the time.

Regardless of the cause a download speed which is well under infinity 1 is a fault and OpenReach need to be contacted by BT to sort the problem out.

If it were congestion it could be that customer numbers are increasing leading to additional bandwidth requirements. Additional capacity has to be planned and implemented. I don't think it's a case of just throwing a switch.

Re: Infinity Getting 0.10MBS download and 11.5MBS upload for 16 hours now

Hang on - he was getting 70Mb/s down and now getting 0.1Mb/s down. That's a reduction by a factor of 700. Now congestion would probably be felt equally across all subscribers and so that would need there to have been an increase in users of 700x. So if his cabinet serves 200 houses it would be now serving 140000 - That's one big huge cabinet.

Maybe if he looks out the window and looks for those 139800 new houses that sprang up overnight. I'm being a little facetious and over simplifying but seriously... I don't think that level of speed reduction can be attributed to congestion from increasing customer numbers.

Just my thought.

Re: Infinity Getting 0.10MBS download and 11.5MBS upload for 16 hours now

Well despite BT telling me and my neighbours there was no fault, one of the people a street down states there was a BT Infinity van at the cab for several hours this morning. Result?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 75.48 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 60 Mbps-77.34 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.34 Mbps

I cannot see this being congestion, its a fairly small village, and i have definitely not noticed a few 1000 houses being put up!!

Been back to normal speeds a few hours now after 28 hours of the 0.10 download speeds.

Well I wish I had told you that there must be a fault if it was affecting you and your neighbours, oh hang on a minute I did!
