Internet Speed Dropped after Disconnection

Go to solution

When I first upgraded to fibre to the cabinet broadband I had a download speed of 33-35 Mbs and upload of 5+Mbs. About 18 months ago upgraded to HH 6A and the subsequent download speed was reduced to around 30Mbps. BT at the time said I should expect 30-35 Mbs with a minimum of 30Mbps. It remained around or just under 30 Mbps until last week when the incoming cable was damaged outside my boundary. It was repaired, and service resumed, but at 21.5 Mps download and 4.02 Mbps upload. I asked BT to do a line check and they said there was no fault. I was asked to monitor the speed for 48 hours. 6 days later without any further disconnection the speeds remain at the reduced level. Can this be reset to the speed I was getting before? As I see it through no fault of mine I'm now not getting the agreed level of service. Any advice appreciated.

Is there any line noise. Try quiet line test. Dual 17070 option 2 should be silent and best with corded phone

are you connected to test socket with a filter to eliminate your internal wiring causing problems
